Konservasi Indonesia (KI) supports global efforts to protect important marine areas beyond national waters through the Living High Seas (LHS) Project. The project helps advance the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) Agreement by supporting science-based planning and governance for Area-Based Management Tools (ABMTs), including High Seas Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). The project works alongside national governments, regional partners, international organizations, and scientific institutions to strengthen capacity, generate scientific evidence, develop ABMT/MPA proposals, and promote policy uptake in support of global marine biodiversity conservation and the Convention on Biological Diversity’s Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework Target 3, commonly known as the CBD “30×30” target.

Konservasi Indonesia (KI) is seeking a motivated and collaborative professional to help advance the conservation of marine biodiversity beyond national waters through the Living High Seas Project. The High Seas Conservation Coordinator will help implement the Living High Seas Project in Indonesia and in selected high seas areas of the Indian Ocean. The role will coordinate science, stakeholder engagement, capacity development activities, and ABMT proposal development to support the protection of important marine areas beyond national waters. The coordinator will work closely with the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), BRIN, regional and international partners, and project consortium members. Reporting to the Marine Ecology Manager, the position will help deliver project results related to science, governance, proposal development, and knowledge sharing.
